Teresa was born in Ottawa, Ontario. Her education includes visual arts programs in Maryland and Ontario before graduating in 1977 from Concordia University, Montreal with a BFA in studio and art history.
A move to southern Ontario in 1982 began a life of 40+ years living in a rural landscape among fields, woods, expansive skies, and distant horizons. This immersion in the natural world has organically over time cultivated a minimalist aesthetic grounded in observation, simplicity, and presence.
In addition, numerous periods of living within the elemental landscapes and rich artistic history of northern New Mexico, as well as other places of resonance and quiet intensity, have further shaped her focus on space, light, and perception.
At the heart of her creative practice is an enduring contemplative inquiry into the nature of reality.
Currently her home and studio is located in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada, where she lives with her partner Canadian artist Robert Marchessault.
