Waterscapes

In 2008 Cullen began a series of paintings to compliment her ongoing vessel works. The work reflects her
close proximity
to large bodies of water for many years, including Lake Simcoe & Georgian Bay of Ontario. The works are internal
representations of Cullen's relationship to the elements of Space, Water & Earth. Wasaga Beach,
a popular tourist destination on the shores of Georgian Bay, has been a particular influence and
Cullen visits this location when it is quiet and devoid of human presence, which is surprisingly often. Each day
expresses a unique nuance of colour and light and the water often reflects the signature cool quality of deep Ontario lakes.
