"She's a process-oriented artist who deploys adept painterly techniques and deft compositions to create her complicated and highly intelligent images... the metaphysical is also at play in her studio practices."

-Gilbert A. Bouchard, The Edmonton Journal

Teresa Cullen has been an exhibiting artist for 30+ years.
The essence of her creativity is profoundly influenced from living 25 years in a rural environment in close proximity to nature. The understanding of space, light and the natural cycle of life pervades and informs all her experiences, lending insights to her perceptions and creative acts. Her artwork is reflective of both her internal and external life journeys and she sees herself in the lineage of visionary artists -
that is, those who translate symbolic internal visions and experiences into external images. Luminous contemplative spaces are translated into imaginary places; they merge personal myth with the universal archetypes of vessels and water, interior and exterior spaces. Textural surfaces, layers of translucent colour and spatial relationships all play an intrinsic role in the warp and weave of the narrative. She identifies what she has named Mystery Wisdom as an intrinsic companion to the process.

Teresa resides in Simcoe County near Barrie Ontario with her partner, Canadian painter Robert Marchessault. She is currently an M.A. student and occasionally teaches meditation and drawing classes.
